Piketon High School Annual Site Environmental Report

Each year, students at a Pike County high school produce an Annual Site Environmental Report (ASER) for the U.S. Department of Energy’s cleanup work at the former Portsmouth Gaseous Diffusion Plan. Ohio University’s Voinovich School of Leadership and Public Affairs partners with U.S. Department of Energy Office of Environmental Management (DOE EM) PORTS staff, site contractors, and higher education institutions in the region to deliver this valuable STEM education experience. The reports are part of the Voinovich School’s PORTSfuture project, funded by a grant provided by the US DOE EM. PORTSfuture brings together the southern Ohio community, Ohio University resources and expertise, and state and federal regulators to make the cleanup of the onetime uranium enrichment facility faster, more efficient, and more conducive to future economic development.
